SAP is the Government’s Standard Assessment Procedure for Energy Rating of Dwellings. The purpose of a SAP Calculation is to demonstrate compliance with energy performance requirements, as set out in Part L of Building Regulations.
New Build SAP Assessments
It is a legal requirement for all new build domestic properties in the UK to have a SAP Assessment carried out at design stage, then an As-built SAP Assessment and EPC at the end of construction.
Over Glazed Extension SAP Assessments / Heat Loss Calculations
If you are planning an extension where the new glazing exceeds 25% of the total floor area of the extension plus the area of openings that no longer exist as a result of the extension works, then you will require a SAP Calculation.
Conversion SAP Assessments
A SAP Calculation will be required if your project is, for example, a barn conversion, or a change of use from a commercial property to a residential dwelling, or from a single dwelling into flats.
Part G Water Calculations
The calculations assess the water efficiency of a dwelling to ensure that water consumption is no more than 125 litres per person per day, in line with current regulations.
